Summing up Sub-Measures

I have a measure titled Retention rate but rather than having one figure for this it’s broken down into Books + Magazines. In the software, I can see that when I create the parent retention rate measure and then break this into books and magazines as separate measures the parent ‘Retention Rate’ measure doesn’t display any data. I assumed that a combination of the 2 sub measures would be displayed.

Could you let me know if there is a way to do this?

Sub-measures are not automatically summed to the higher level. The application has no idea what your intentions are so rather than guess that you want to sum the data, it leaves it alone. You have to tell the application what to do, so the parent measure should have a calculation for the Actual Values that sums the values of the child measures.

If you have not used calculations before, there is a guide here: https://www.intrafocus.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/AD7-Calculated-Measures.pdf
